Starbucks Feeling of Fall
We wanted to capture the true feeling of fall that Starbucks brings to autumn. Working with Toronto-based oil painter Zach Atticus, we created 6 paintings that depict genuine fall moments across Canada.
A red underpainting glows through the layers above adding warmth and depth, making the imagined scene feel immersive. It's almost photographic.
For TV and cinema, we scanned the painting and rebuilt it digitally creating a truly immersive world to shoot within.

While the paintings spread the feeling of fall, their close-up textures became the perfect canvas for each product ad.

Zach and I landed on a process where I used AI to build precise image references that he would then paint. It took endless hours because 2024 Ai is ancient. But seeing the finished work in person didn’t just feel like the closest I’ve come to the “art” in Art Director, it showed me the line between what our tools can make and what only humans can bring.
